I'm currently living in a family of 4 with 2 children, a boy 9 years old and a girl 7 years old. I help them with their daily lives. Preparing their breakfast and lunchboxes, walking them to school and picking them up, and helping them with their homework or after-school activities. I do activities with them when it's their spare time or when they are on vacation, like crafting and arts, playing indoor/outdoor games, or accompanying them on city or playdates. I also do household work like tidying up, laundry, ironing, and cooking. I always follow the dietary restrictions of the family. In addition, I always follow our weekly schedule and give my best in my everyday work.
My first au pair journey was in the Netherlands. I stayed in the family of 4 with two boys, a 10-year-old and a 2-year-old. I am the one who’s taking care of them while their parents are at work. I help them to get ready for school. While the older brother goes to school, the younger one stays with me the whole day. Preparing his food. Playing with him inside or outside. And helping him take naps in the afternoon or putting him to sleep in the evenings. I also teach him to pronounce basic words, colors, numbers, and letters. We also watch cartoons and nursery rhymes. I always took care of him first and made sure of his safety. We always go to playgrounds or parks. He loves riding his bike while going out. I also help them with their housework, like cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
I love staying inside and going outside. I love going to new places, trying their delicacies, learning their culture, and discovering the amazing life. I'm also a pet lover. I have 3 dogs and 4 cats in the Philippines. I always let them play outside and make sure to be active every time. When I don't go out, I spend my time reading books or watching movies, series, or documentaries. I love fictional stories that sometimes help me to escape reality sometimes.
The part of au pair is a great opportunity and privilege as a Filipino. When I lived in the Netherlands and Norway, it let me experience their life and culture. It wakes me up to desire more. I want to learn new things about their country. I want to learn new things like the culture, tradition, and way of living of their people. It will help me to be an independent and more responsible person. And most especially I want to help my future host family. I will give my best in every task that is given to me.
