My name is Emma, I'm 18 years old and I'm finishing school this summer with my A-levels. I'm from Hamburg and live in the centre of the city, so I'm familiar with big city life. But I really love life in the countryside. I've been to Sweden a few times and I've loved it every time. I like Swedish literature and films, but also series, which I like to watch in Swedish. I have studied the Swedish language via learning apps and on site and already understand quite a bit. I would like to learn more about Swedish culture and improve my language skills.
I come from a large family and am the oldest in my generation, so I have often looked after younger children. Last year I did an internship in a workshop for people with special needs, which I really enjoyed.
I am a very open and spontaneous person, well organised and independent. In my free time I like to be creative, I love being by the water and swimming. I love cooking and baking. I also love reading.
I am looking forward to meeting a nice family with whom I can spend some quality time!
Hobbies/Fritid
I love painting and listening to audio books. I like history and philosophy. I feel most at home by the water, I generally love nature and I like to move around. I love cooking and baking. I am interested in fashion. I would always prefer to watch a film or read a book than go out partying. I like to play board games.
School/Skolan
I am in year 12 at a grammar school and will be graduating this summer. My main focus at school is art and history. I have done a few internships and have gained initial experience in a school museum, in graphic and product design and in a workshop for people with special needs.My personality/ Min personlighet
I am a very open and curious person who loves to be creative and spontaneous. I am empathetic and interested in people, current affairs, history and art. I have some close and long term friends and love to meet new people, but can also spend time alone.Languageskills/Språkkunskaper
German is my mother tongue. I have been learning English at school since the 1st grade, so I speak English almost fluently. I also learnt Spanish at school from 6th to 10th grade. I never really got to grips with this language, so I only have a basic knowledge of it.
I'm learning Swedish in my free time: I'm learning with a language app, learning books and watching films and series in Swedish. I understand quite well, but can only speak a little. Childcare/Barnomsorg
Whether young or old, my large family has given me a lot of experience when it comes to childcare. I have looked after my younger cousins and have a brother who is 3 years younger than me.
Expectations/Förväntningar
I would like to have many new experiences during my time as an au pair, get to know nice people and gain a realistic insight into everyday life in Sweden. I would like to spend a wonderful time in Sweden that I will look back on fondly and that will inspire me to spend more time in Sweden.
