Au pair Milla in Belgium
Dear Host Family,

Available in October.

My name is Milla and I am a 17-year-old student who will turn 18 on October 11, 2025.

I was born in Luxembourg but grew up in Arlon, a small town in southern Belgium near the Luxembourg border. I come from a loving family: my mother is Belgian, my father is Swedish, and I have three siblings—an older sister (19), a younger sister (14), and a little brother (7). My family is a significant part of who I am, and growing up with siblings has taught me the values of responsibility, patience, and care.

Currently, I am in my final year of secondary school in an English immersion program. By the end of the year, I will have my CESS diploma (equivalent to the French baccalauréat) and will sit for the Cambridge C1 English exam. In addition to my studies, I am preparing for my driving licence, which I plan to obtain as soon as I turn 18. I also recently got a student job; I am a swimming instructor for children aged from 4 to 9 years old.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, drawing, cooking, and exploring topics like personal development and psychology. I like staying active through sports like running, dancing and going to the gym. I love spending time with my friends, but I also value moments of solitude. I love animals, especially cats. I have two cats and I love spending time with them.

I am especially drawn to Sweden, not only because it’s my father’s homeland, but also because I deeply admire its traditions, culture, and way of living. My father has passed down many Swedish traditions to our family, and every time I visit Sweden, I fall more in love with the country. Learning Swedish is a goal close to my heart, and immersing myself in the language and culture would be meaningful to me.

I often take care of my youngest brother, August, playing with him and doing creative activities with him. I also volunteer weekly, entertaining group of about 20 girls aged 6 to 9. I occasionally babysit and started a youth animator formation.

After my gap year as an au pair, I plan to study architecture, either in Sweden, France or Belgium. I have always been indecisive about what I was going to do in the future, which has always scared me. This experience abroad will hopefully give me new perspectives that will enrich my path and help me learn more about myself and what I want.

Warm regards,
Milla
